So, its been a while - last year (2017) was a bit of a dry period in the old printmaking department. I think in total I produced 2 prints! I drew a lot though and developed ideas in my head.
I was convincing myself that I didn't need deadlines such as Art fairs or commissions to encourage me to work. but in all honestly I now think I do.
Last year, for me became all about learning to do my 'other job' better.
I am learning to bookkeep for my husbands business (s) which is a full time job in itself. And I decided to take up running, which has been awesome even though my hip would tell you otherwise.
By the time it got to October 2017 I felt the year was lost in terms of creating new art and there wasn't much point in making anything new as I had run out of time! Which looking back is a bit silly really!
Anyway, I applied for the Hepworth Print Fair and got in (YAY!) and I had a fantastic time. I met some super people - the other printmakers and the customers. Had some lovely chats with folk about different stuff and sold quite a few prints (Bonus)
So my new refreshed viewpoint is - apply apply apply - so this morning has consisted of me looking for art fairs/stuff to apply for and to just get on with it!
There's nothing more motivating than the sweaty panic of having to get your s$%t together and make it look good!
